The Bridge School in Ipswich has been shortlisted under the Community Benefit category at this year’s RICS East of England awards.
Phase One of a staged programme saw a new primary school built adjacent to the existing secondary school. The £4.7m project, which was completed in September 2015, was designed and project managed by Concertus and built by ISG.
Catering for children aged three to 16 who have severe and complex learning difficulties, The Bridge School was originally operating from two sites, six miles apart. Suffolk County Council wanted to bring everyone together on one campus, providing facilities and an environment that would meet their special educational needs.
