With an interest in property, places and how people use them that stemmed from his childhood, Colin decided early on that he wanted to be a surveyor.

Having grown up in Suffolk and gained a degree in Land Management from De Montfort University, Colin started his career in the private sector, working as a graduate for Drivers Jonas and Bidwells. He then moved into the public sector and worked across the region for both Norwich City Council and Forest Heath District Council, before moving to London to take up a role with the Department of Communities and Local Government. His eight years with DCLG as an Estate Specialist saw him advising Government on policy development across housing, commercial property, regeneration, local authority asset management and planning & development.

Colin’s main responsibility at Concertus is the overall strategic lead and development of the firm’s professional property services, ensuring that the offer of the Estates Team can meet the requirements of any public sector client, from first idea through to delivery and onward management. His broad and diverse experience across private and public sectors means he is adept at seeing the bigger picture and working with multiple stakeholder groups to achieve their vision.

Colin is a passionate believer in joined-up public sector approaches and enjoys the challenge of linking the political, economic, social and environmental challenges of a public sector client to achieve commercially sound outcomes.

Dream Job:

If not my current one, then farmer and landowner somewhere in East Anglia.

Something that not many people know about you:

I have written speeches for government ministers which have been delivered at debates in the Houses of Parliament and at conferences. I have also previously undertaken a creative writing course at the UEA. However these two things are not linked!

Stuck in a lift with:

Isambard Kingdom Brunel – a hero of mine and could also no doubt turn his engineering expertise to fixing a lift.
