From the experience gained working in the construction industry since the start of his career, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge to the Concertus team.
Originally starting his career as a site labourer, after a couple years Mark was offered a position as a Building Control Technician at Waveney District Council. He then went on to work in Building Control at Waveney and Suffolk Coastal District Councils as an area Building Control Surveyor before being promoted to Building Control Team Leader, until he became Building Control Partnership manager for East Suffolk and Ipswich Borough Councils.
Studying via distance learning over many years, Mark has an HNC in Construction and is a Chartered Member of the Association of Building Engineers. His day-to-day responsibilities include directing the Building Surveying, Building Services and Building Control teams. He describes himself as a good communicator who is personable, relatable and approachable; all key attributes that fit the Concertus ethos.
Mark has a depth of knowledge that is varied and encompasses both the private and public sectors. His experience ranges from commercial and education to high-rise and domestic. Only recently, he has been heavily involved in the Eastern Region on the tragedy that took place at Grenfell Tower and its implications to high-rise buildings in the area.
One of his first aims on joining the team in April 2018 was to develop an Approved Inspector to compliment the multidisciplinary nature of Concertus; an initiative that strengthens the company’s offering to new and existing clients.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys football; he used to play for his local team, Bungay Town FC and he enjoys Carp fishing and golf. He also built his own house, whilst juggling a career and young family; an experience he can categorically confirm that he will never do again!
