“Completed on time and to budget, the finished project ensured the school’s capacity was met by the start of the new school year in September 2012.” - Scott Blair, Concertus
The Brief: Part of the delivery of the SOR programme for Suffolk County Council, the school accommodation and facilities needed to be extended to allow for extra pupils.
The Scope: As the lead consultant for the project, our design required an appreciation of the style and shape of the existing building and site conditions and made provision for three new classrooms, group rooms, pupil toilets and a server room and associated circulation spaces.
Highlights include -
• An innovative use of space with moving walls alongside traditional classroom style spaces
• The design through its use of metric formed materials, size and shape provides a sympathetic approach to its surrounding environment
• Use of natural light and ventilation to provide efficient and comfortable spaces
• The quality specification finishes complete a style, which encompasses the existing enriched building features
The Result: Completed on time and to budget, the finished project ensured the school’s capacity was met by the start of the new school year in September 2012.
