Principal Electrical Engineer

Team leader:
  • Lead the Electrical Engineering Services Team, supporting the business, team and colleagues to achieve maximum potential
  • Manage the team effectively with adherence to commercial performance and resource management via productivity and time methods
  • Support the Head of Building Services and the Directors, linking effectively and proactively with other teams within Concertus
  • Work proactively and flexibly to support delivery across the service with commercial and solution focus
  • Take ownership for own personal development
Customer service:
  • Deliver great customer service to all existing and potential clients with a primary focus on ensuring commercial performance/behaviour
  • Provide an efficient and business-like point of contact. This includes responding to internal and external enquiries (via face to face, telephone, email)
  • Deliver a consistent and professional level of customer service at all times to Clients and other practices within the industry, with a commercial focus
  • Excellence in advice towards to design quality and practicality of a project
Business delivery:
  • Develop and deliver new processes for Electrical Engineering Consultancy
  • Lead on introducing more efficient and joined up projects and processes
  • Lead conversations with clients
  • Ensuring projects are completed on budget and to schedule.
  • Preparing scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works
  • Prepare and present feasibility reports, and high quality design proposals to the client
  • Work around constraining factors such as planning legislation, building regulations, environmental impact and project budget
  • Prepare applications for planning and building control
  • Produce BIM compliant working drawings and specifications
  • Choose materials to be used and the requirements for the project, based on site and environmental criteria
  • React and resolve issues which arise during the pre-design/design construction/post-construction stages of a project
  • Contract Administration
BIM roles and responsibilities:
  • Enable reliable information exchange through a common data environment
  • Enable integration and coordination of information within information model
  • Configure information for project outputs
  • Assure delivery of information exchanges
  • Confirm suppliers’ ability to deliver information requirements
  • Coordinated delivery of all design information
  • Overall Lead for configuration management
  • Manage information development and information approvals
  • Confirm Design Deliverables
  • Production of design outputs related to a discipline-specific, package-based or time-based task
  • Direct the production of task information using agreed systems
  • Manage spatial coordination on behalf of task team
  • Propose resolutions to coordination clashes
  • Accept/reject information exchanges within the common data environment
  • Oversee team to ensure compliance of their job responsibilities
Business strategy:
  • Lead the Electrical Engineering team strategy for the business
  • Develop and deliver a team business plan linked to the Concertus strategic business plan
  • To have a sound understanding of the Concertus strategic business plan, providing support accordingly
  • Cultivate new business clients and retain existing clients

It's essential you have:
  • A HND/Degree in an engineering related subject – desirable
  • You will be a highly experienced professional with strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • You will be a professionally chartered engineer or hold relevant experience in profession
  • You will be a member of a relevant professional body
  • You will have team management experience and be able to demonstrate leadership competencies
  • You will be able to work effectively under pressure
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of planning legislation, building regulations and an understanding of health and safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good understanding of CAD and specialist software packages
