To oversee the Structural Engineering function as a member of the leadership team.

 

Team worker:

  • Management of and accountability for the structural Engineering team in supporting the business, team and colleagues to achieve maximum potential
  • Lead the Structural Engineering team effectively with adherence to commercial performance to achieve required outputs and targets
  • Support the Associate Directors, Directors and Group Directors, linking effectively and proactively with other teams within Concertus
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Design and Property matters across the Concertus Group.
  • Work proactively and flexibly to support delivery across the professional services, with a commercial and solution focused mindset.
  • Responsible for issue and conflict management, internally and externally with clients and partners.

 

Customer service:

  • Liaise with clients and other parties to support development of new business opportunities and the management of existing clients and accounts.
  • Maintain the highest levels of communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide an efficient, effective and business-like point of contact whilst adhering to the Concertus Group visions and values.
  • Deliver a consistent and professional level of exceptional service to clients
  • Excellence in advice towards design and property professional matters across all areas of the Concertus Group.

Business strategy:

  • Lead the Structural Engineering team strategy for the business
  • Develop and deliver a team business plan linked to the Concertus strategic business plan
  • To have a sound understanding of the Concertus strategic business plan, providing support accordingly
  • Cultivate new business clients and retain existing clients

Business delivery:

  • Deliver business targets outlined in Professional Services/ Areas Business Plans under your responsibility.
  • Authority for matters associated to professional areas.
  • Stakeholder management, including clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and the community to support the promotion of the Concertus Group, conflict resolution; business development and client retention.
  • Responsible for improvements in productivity; efficiency and connectivity in professional areas (project; programme; sectors and clients).
  • Responsible for projects being completed to fee, project budget, quality requirements, outputs and time.
  • Preparation of professional information associated to professional area.
  • Administration of projects/ cases and contracts.
  • Solution focus relating to Design constraining factors.
  • Resolution Management of matters associated to project and business issues.
  • Contribute to the operation and the development of the QMS, to ensure continuous improvement of quality assured services to clients.
  • Responsibility for the financial performance of Professional Services Team.
  • Author and or contributor of tender/bid submissions across the Concertus Group.
  • Assessing the environmental impact and risks connected to design decisions
  • Assessing the Health and Safety impact and risks connected to design decisions
  • Managing, directing and monitoring progress during each phase of a project
  • Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors

It’s essential you have:

  • A relevant degree or proven experience in Structural Engineering, including being professionally chartered with a relevant recognised Engineering Institution
  • Experience in structural design working in a multi-disciplined environment
  • A comprehensive knowledge of building regulations with an understanding of planning legislation and health and safety
  • Management experience and leadership competencies
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and the desire to ‘go the extra mile’
  • A comprehensive knowledge of design and property matters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and in design specialist packages
  • Strong experience of managing Design projects and teams across a multiple client base, sectors and contracts
  • A commercially astute and business focused attitude
  • An ability to take ownership for own personal development
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability liaise effectively to support the delivery of professional services; business development and conflict resolution.

BIM Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Asset Information requirements and/or MIDP requirements set out in the Employers Information Requirements and delivered on a BIM project.
  • Enable reliable information exchange through a common data environment
  • Enable integration and co-ordination of information within information model.
  • Configure information for project outputs
  • Assure delivery of information exchanges
  • Confirm supplier’s ability to deliver information requirements
  • Co-ordinated delivery of all design information
  • Manage information development and information approvals
  • Confirm Design Deliverables
  • Overall Lead for configuration management
  • Production of design outputs related to a discipline specific, package-based or time-based task.
  • Direct the production of task information in compliance with standards and methods.
  • Direct the production of task information using agreed systems.
  • Manage spatial co-ordination on behalf of task team.
  • Propose resolutions to co-ordination clashes
  • Accept / reject information exchanges within the common data Environment
  • Oversee team to ensure compliance of their job responsibilities
