Trainee Building Surveyor


To advise clients on design and construction of new buildings, and advising on the maintenance and repair of existing buildings


Team worker:

  • Participate as a member of the Concertus team supporting colleagues and working collaboratively to develop the business

Customer service:

  • Advise clients on schemes and projects to determine requirements
  • Advise clients on energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction
  • Advise on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings
  • Deal with planning applications and advising on property legislation and building regulations
  • Instruct on construction design and management regulations
  • Advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings


Business delivery:

  • Support existing Building Surveyors in the delivery of dilapidations, condition surveys, maintenance programmes and minor works projects
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients via telephone calls, letters and e-mails
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters concerning the company and its clients
  • Keep up to date with any changes or proposed changes in legislation, Codes of Practice or Directives pertinent to your work
  • Undertake CAD designs under instruction


BIM roles and responsibilities:

  • Maintain and receive information into the information model
  • Configure information for project outputs
  • Populate the information exchange format for the information model
  • Production of design outputs related to a discipline-specific, package-based or time-based task
  • Propose resolutions to co-ordination clashes

It’s essential that you have:

  • Good problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • An ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork ability
