We are passionate about supporting local charities. Our donations make a significant difference to the local community and allow charities to continue with their excellent work. A total of £7,400.00 was donated to our chosen charities in 2018 but we are working hard to exceed this figure in 2019. To date, we have already raised £7,940.00!
Each year our employees participate in a vote to choose our annual charities. Our chosen charities for 2019 are Suffolk Mind (The Suffolk County Council Chairman’s Charity) and Fresh Start – New Beginnings.
Fresh Start – New Beginnings provide a therapeutic service for children who have reported being sexually abused and offer support to their families. We created a team (Designer Dragons) who participated in the Dragon Boat Challenge in June to raise money for Fresh Start – New Beginnings. Our Designer Dragons enjoyed competing against other local businesses and raised an impressive £725.00. Patsy Johnson-Cisse, Income & Operations Director at Fresh Start – New Beginnings, has expressed her thoughts about working with us: “We are thrilled to have been chosen by Concertus as one of their charities of the year. They have fantastic fundraising ideas which are set to raise vital funds for us. The Concertus team are on a mission to raise our profile across the region.”
Raising awareness and funds for Suffolk Mind are key aims for us this year. Our Mental Health First Aiders are able to support staff with mental health concerns and direct them to professionals who are trained to offer guidance immediately. Collecting donations for Suffolk Mind will enable them to maintain the support they offer across the county. Councillor James Finch commented: “Suffolk Mind is a charity which is very dear to my heart. I am so pleased Concertus have chosen to help me fundraise for this very worthy charity.”
We are also proud to have been an official sponsor of Elmer’s Big Parade for St Elizabeth Hospice. In light of the art trail’s final few days, we held a ‘Bring, Bake and Bye’ event in our office. Colleagues kindly donated items and baked tasty treats which were sold to raise significant funds for St Elizabeth Hospice. We kept to the hospice donation guidelines which enabled us to donate all of the leftover items to the hospice charities. They were delighted!
Concertus also took part and volunteered to marshal at ‘Splat Quack Go’ (a fun mud run with obstacles) and Concertus’ popular charity quiz night (a competitive event with pizza and drinks) is due to take place in a couple of weeks. We are looking forward to fundraising as much as possible between now and the end of the year for our brilliant charities.
