Hyde Hall Wins the RICS Award for the Tourism and Leisure Category

The annual RICS awards ceremony for the East of England was held this month and celebrated the most impressive and community beneficial schemes in the area. We were delighted to be presented with an RICS award, for the Tourism and Leisure category, for our completed project at The RHS Hyde Hall in Chelmsford.

Our team were tasked with making the concept design a reality for Brooks & Wood and their client, the Royal Horticultural Society. The concept designs for both buildings were undertaken by Cullinan Studio. Two striking buildings were designed and built on the site of redundant farm buildings – one to house the learning centre and the other to be the main restaurant and activity barn. The distinctive buildings have enhanced the site and provided a pleasant environment to learn and relax in.

RICS judges were amazed by Hyde Hall and described it as a great success. The project has provided a key focal point for the Royal Horticultural Society and led to an increased number of visitors.

‘I am extremely proud of the Concertus team who delivered the concept design with a very high level of detail, to a tight budget and programme. The contractor, Brooks & Wood, provided an incredibly high level of workmanship to deliver the two striking buildings. The unique buildings have become a destination which the public continue to visit. In addition to enjoying the buildings, visitors can admire sweeping views of the Essex countryside and the surrounding RHS gardens.’ – Darren Fellowes (Associate at Concertus Design & Property Consultants)
