National Apprenticeship Week 2020

This week is National Apprenticeship Week. Three years ago, we welcomed our first apprentice into the Business, Alice Cruz. Alice successfully completed an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Business Administration and upon completion was promoted into a Business Assistant role. Last year we welcomed our second apprentice, Lorelei Cruz. Lorelei is currently on track to complete the same apprenticeship with the aim to complete in March 2020.

Upon reflection of the last year Lorelei tells us:

“After starting my role in project finance a year ago, I have been given many opportunities at Concertus. However, I found my feet in the Marketing and Communications Team. Throughout my journey I have had a significant amount of support from my college tutor, line manager and the entire management team. My line manager, Beth Wade (Marketing and Communications Manager) recognised the potential in me and built my confidence in the role. With a hospitality background, I was keen to gain extra knowledge about business fundamentals and what it takes to become part of a successful team. The tasks and opportunities I have been handed at Concertus and within my apprenticeship have been hugely valuable. They have allowed me to not just learn, but to support my team and the wider business needs. 2019 has been an adventure, my learning and developing has only just begun and I am excited for my future at Concertus”

Caroline, (Lorelei’s college tutor) states the following:

“I visit Concertus on a regular basis to visit Lorelei. I always look forward to visiting, as I am always made to feel welcome. I am impressed with the ongoing support Lorelei is receiving from her Manager and Concertus as a business. She has been given some fantastic opportunities to develop her skills and learning over the past year or so.”

While Lorelei is now coming to the end of her apprenticeship, we continue to support the learning and development of all trainees. Theo Warren joined the team in September 2019 and is currently studying his apprenticeship at London South Bank University, while working with us as a Trainee Building Services Engineer.

Theo tells us:

“I am really enjoying working in the Concertus team and gaining invaluable skills from the multi-disciplinary workforce and projects. Since I started, I have developed my CAD skills and gained a range of understanding about engineering professions from underwater welding, to building services engineering. My colleagues have been vital in providing this understanding and they take the time to explain anything new to me in detail.”
