Bury St Edmunds Children’s Home

“The build of a new children’s home came with a range of key objectives – for instance, the place had to make children feel safe and happy. Also, it was important that we engaged closely with all stakeholders to deliver fantastic results for both the client and the residents.” David Garrard, Associate, Concertus Design & Property Consultants Ltd

The Brief:

The Children’s Accommodation Service wanted to build a home for children in Bury St Edmunds that looked and felt welcoming and comfortable, and importantly, just like an ordinary home. Other objectives included value for money, high quality work, attention detail and collaboration.

The Scope:

As the preferred consultant, we assisted in developing the brief and facilitated a workshop with the stakeholders.

Crucially, throughout the project, we engaged closely with the end user and residents who would be getting a new home. We also managed a range of requirements and dynamics among the stakeholders, whilst our lead consultant approached the work with the utmost care. We also provided the client with regular updates which included project costs.

One of the aspects that made this project different, was the installation of a biomass boiler in the residential building.

The Result:

Our team delivered a building that blends in with the surrounding residential area. Functional and well-designed, the home on a domestic scale provides a welcoming and ‘safe’ environment for the residents.
