Principal Building Surveyor (Derbyshire)
Team leader:- Lead the Building Surveying team, supporting the business, team and colleagues to achieve maximum potential
- Manage the team effectively with adherence to commercial performance and resource management via productivity and time methods
- Support the Associates and Directors, linking effectively and proactively with other teams within Concertus

- To liaise with and give advice to clients
- Deliver a consistent and professional level of customer service at all times to Clients, and other practices within the industry
- Excellence in advice towards design quality and the Built Environment
- Provide an initial point of escalation for issues both internally and externally to support the team, the business and the Clients
- Lead the Building Surveying team strategy for the business
- Develop and deliver a team business plan linked to the Concertus strategic business plan
- To have a sound understanding of the Concertus strategic business plan, providing support accordingly
- Cultivate new business clients and retain existing clients
- Be the authority for Building Surveying matters relating to specialist areas
- Lead and manage the improvement of standard systems and procedures within the Building Surveying team
- Maintain technical competence with a high standard of experience and knowledge around a number of Building Surveying specialisms
- Develop and deliver new processes for the team
- Lead on introducing more efficient and joined up projects
- Lead conversations with clients on Building Surveying matters
- Manage sub-contractors and consultant partners effectively
- Maintain a high-level knowledge of legislation, policies, good practice and guidance
- Ensure projects are completed on budget and to programme
- Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion and projects and specification of works with a focus on high-quality output
- Organise documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes
- Determine the condition of existing buildings, identifying and analysis defects and including proposals for repair
- Work around constraining factors such as planning regulations, building regulations, environmental impact and project budget
- Ensure effective contract administration processes on behalf of the Building Surveying team
- React and resolve issues which arise during pre-design, design, construction and post-construction stages of a project
- Advise on the Health and Safety aspects of buildings

- Degree in Building Surveying & MRICS, MCIOB status
- Experience in professional aspects of building surveying competencies including dilapidations and party wall matters
- Substantial experience in the profession, preferably in a consultancy practice or for a large contractor in a design capacity
- Knowledge of NBS building software
- Advanced knowledge of contract administration
- Effective communication skills across a range of contacts
- Ability to work effectively under pressure

- You will have team management experience and be able to demonstrate leadership competencies
