First Female Regional Chair of CIBSE EA

Concertus are delighted that Nicola Booth has recently been elected as Regional Chair of CIBSE. Nicola will be the first female Chair of CIBSE East Anglia. Nicola was previously the Hon. Secretary for the CIBSE East Anglia Region and holds eight years total service on the Regional Committee. In Nicola’s new role as Chair, her main responsibility will be engendering enthusiastic support for the Region’s activities. Her job role also expects her to attend all meetings of the Region, represent the Region at CIBSE Headquarters and be an ex-officio member of the Regional Liaison Committee and CIBSE Council.

Nicola is an MCIBSE accredited Senior Mechanical Engineer with thirteen years of experience in the construction industry. She believes it is extremely important to work closely with the client and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary design team. The projects Nicola has delivered cover a wide range of sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, residential and leisure. Nicola initially had a career in the hospitality industry where she helped to run pubs and hotels. However, Nicola wanted to work in construction and therefore decided to study for an O.N.C. in construction. Whilst studying at Colchester Institute, Nicola also worked part time at Suffolk County Council. Having gained her O.N.C. qualification, Nicola went on to study at London South Bank University where she received a BEng (Hons) focused in Building Services Engineering.

Nicola often leads workshops in schools and visits careers events. Suffolk Skills Show is an event which she attends on behalf of CIBSE every year. Nicola is passionate about education and is keen to make schoolchildren aware of the options available to them in the Building Services area.

When asked about her new position, Nicola provided the following statement: ‘I am honoured to have been asked by the past chairman to undertake this role. In particular, I’m looking forward to building the committee’s strength and focusing on services for our members and future engineers who are training in our local colleges and universities.’ Concertus fully support Nicola’s new role as Regional Chair of CIBSE and wish her the best of luck.
