Official Opening of Otley Primary School

Ex Ipswich Town Football Club player, Roger Osborne has paid a visit to his old primary school to officially open the new school hall and pre-school building.

The event marked the culmination of a 30-week construction programme at Otley Primary School which aimed to increase the accommodation space so that not only could pupil numbers be increased, but both the Otley under 5’s and Otley Primary school could be incorporated within the same building.

Brooks & Wood was the main contractor for the £700k scheme and Concertus carried out all the multi-disciplinary design works, as well as project managing the demolition and construction work on behalf of the client.

The project was delivered on time and has provided the school with a new dedicated facility for dining, sports and activities, as well as a dedicated playground with good sight lines for safeguarding and an increased netball pitch.

Ian Liddell, School Chair of Governors commented: “Please can I officially thank everyone for providing the School and Under 5’s with superb new facilities that we are very grateful for, and I know will greatly enhance what we are able to offer the children in our care.”

The new hall and playground space is eco-friendly and will invariably give the children more opportunities in their learning on a day to day basis, adding to the success and popularity of the school. Executive Headteacher, Richard Benstock said: “The new facilities are a fantastic resource for the children to enrich their educational experience, particularly with the wider curriculum such as sport, drama, music and dance.”
