Mildenhall Hub

RIBA Awards

Category: Class A; New Build. Commercial.

RICS Awards

Category: Public Sector Project.

SPACES Awards

Category: Civic Building of the Year and Yearbook.

The completed hub is a national exemplar project, and the first of its kind in the United Kingdom to have as many community services brought together under one roof to achieve its aim of reducing overheads and creating better cost and environmental efficiencies.

Basetek

RIBA Awards

Category: Class A; New Build. Commercial.

The design took full consideration of the client’s brief and vision. This office was designed to both reflect the company’s brand identity and provide a space for its employees to feel proud of. The finished office allows for the ever-growing company’s expansion, giving the user flexibility of several different meeting and working spaces throughout the building.

Steven Ryles, Principal Architect, said “This design features a range of incredible interior and architectural details, looking to reflect on the client’s industrial connections, by highlighting the structure and other raw materials across the entirety of the main office area and warehouse. The open two-storey office space and individual spaces around its perimeter are truly stunning and it’s a space we’re incredibly proud of. The team worked so hard throughout this project, and we’re honoured that RIBA have shortlisted Basetek in their Commercial New Build category.”

The Hold

RICS Awards

Category: Community Benefit.

The Hold is home to new seminar rooms and a 200-seat lecture theatre that has provided the University of Suffolk with extra teaching spaces for the increasing number of students. In addition to housing state-of-the-art university facilities, The Hold is the headquarters for Suffolk’s records office and allows the public to explore 900 years of national and international archive material.

The end result is a stunning addition to both the Ipswich waterfront and Suffolk’s heritage assets.”

The Bridge

SPACES Awards

Category: Yearbook.

This state-of-the-art SEND school, was a much-needed project for Suffolk County Council and the local community in Ipswich. The excellent working relationship between Suffolk County Council, Concertus, Morgan Sindall, and the Academy end user allowed for a seamless transition to deliver this specialist school, which surpassed expectations through creative design solutions and co-operative working practices.

Stowupland Sixth Form

SPACES Awards

Category: Yearbook.

The new stand-alone sixth form centre supports 300 students from across Suffolk. The building houses six classroom spaces, a specially designed media suite, a performing arts studio, a common room, and a kitchen alongside a range of storage areas.

Thurston Church of England Primary Academy

SPACES Awards

Category: Yearbook.

The school was completed in summer 2021 providing a modern, innovative, and exciting new school for the community. Processes developed and implemented on this project for client engagement and BIM/clash detection are now being used on many other projects due to their success in saving time, money and providing truly integrated outputs. The school now accommodates 420 students, plus a 30-place pre-school, with room for future expansion to a total of 630 students in the main school building and 60 places in the pre-school.

Lawford Church of England Primary School

SPACES Awards

Category: Yearbook.

Concertus Design and Property Consultants were appointed by Barnes as the architect, structural engineer, and M&E consultant for the scheme. The design included an additional eight classrooms, a library, as well as several offices and specialist practical areas. The school also has a new outside Multi-Use Games Area.

At the end of last year Area Bishop of Colchester, the Right Reverend Roger Morris, visited Lawford Church of England Primary School to bless and officially open the extension. Read more by clicking here.

The RIBA Craftsmanship Awards 2022 will be presented at the SJCC Supper (Suffolk Joint Committee for Construction) at Trinity Park on Thursday 12th May 2022. While the RICS Awards will be hosted via YouTube on Wednesday 18th May 2022. The SPACES yearbook will be launched at a President’s Dinner and Awards Ceremony in early November.
